Nelson Masked Parade- Next Friday, 27 October, Nelson City, 5pm - 6.30pm (approx)
Our whole school is participating in this exciting community event. We would love as many children as possible to take part. [If you know your child is not able to participate please let us know prior to next Friday.]
The theme of the parade this year is ‘We are the World” Everyone at school has been hard at work creating a mask that depicts a flag from different countries around the world. They are looking awesome! As previously mentioned in a newsletter we would like all children dressed in black. Long pants and preferably an Appleby top. If you do not have an Appleby top they can be purchased from school or a plain black t- shirt will do the job.
On Friday afternoon, your child will bring their mask home from school ready to wear to the parade. We would like you to deliver your child, (and their mask) to our school assembly point in Montgomery Carpark by 5pm. Look for a sign that says C9 and our Appleby School banners. [This gives us time to get organised and for the judges to see us before the parade starts at 5.30]. The Montgomery Carpark will be closed to traffic so you will need to park elsewhere. To keep everyone safe we will have a register of all the children. Please check in with staff when you drop your child off and before taking them at the end of the parade. This is VERY important as there will be hundreds of people at the event. Please collect your child as soon as our group returns to the carpark. We will not let any children leave without their accompanying adult. Once your child is registered with us you can go and find yourself a good vantage point and prepare to be amazed!
The traffic and parking is nothing short of a nightmare! Give yourself plenty of time to get there. If wet weather the parade will be postponed to Sunday 29th – listen to More FM 92.8fm for traffic reports and wet weather announcements. Updates will be available on www.nelsonartsfestival.co.nz or Nelson Masked Parade Facebook page.
