We have been lucky to have two real authors visit us as part of book week!
The first was Melanie Drewery who is from Mapua. She read us Nana Mihis Rainbow which was her first published book 16 years ago!
She uses Te Reo a lot and is inspired by real Maori Myths and sometimes she makes them up. She sang to us in Te Reo Maori! We think it's cool that her best inspiration was her mum.                       Delta, Jack, Sam and Hannah.

The 2nd author to visit was Jerri Pirc. She always wanted to be a kindergarten reading 'gran' so that's what she does now. She has only just started writing but what she loves most is researching about reading dogs. Her dog Jazz is a reading dog at one kindergarten and one school in Nelson. Jazz the dog came to visit too and read Kate and Caboodle with Jerri to us. Jazz is a cool reading dog because she loves kids. Kate and Caboodle is a great book because of the rhyming.
Connor, Amelia, Amber.
