As part of our school-wide safety unit this term we are planning to visit Rabbit Island to take part in the Beach Education programme. Beach Ed is a beach and surf safety course designed by Surf Life Saving New Zealand and delivered by qualified surf lifeguards. It includes theory and practical sessions in the classroom and at our local beach. Parents and whanua are invited to take part in the Beach Ed sessions.
We will split into 3 groups and visit the beach over three days.:
Monday 27th Feb- Year 5/6, Tuesday 28th Feb- Year 3/4, Wednesday 1st March- Year 1/2.
Each day will start in the classroom and the at beach session will be between 11:15am and 2:30pm.
We will need a ratio of around one adult to four students at the beach. Please Contact Nic Walker nwalker@appleby.school.nz if you would like to come along to one, (or more) of the sessions.
